B ombardier had a theoretical chance to compete but had bad luck with early testing, it run out of cash and angered Boeing .

You know who is not gonna run out of cash, has huge development teams, is hell- bent on getting a top aerospace industry and doesn’t relly on the American market to succeed?

Kinja'd!!!

China...

Airbus and Boeing are admirable companies, but unless a breakthrough is found, they will be having serious competition, sooner rather than later.

There’s also a chance that United Aircraft could get their shit together and start competing effectively....

... haha, nah, I can’t say that with a straight face. Its just going to be the Chinese.

It will be interesting to see what China can do. They have all the ingredients. Word is their plane is kind of a knock off, but I haven’t paid enough attention to determine if that is true or just sour grapes. Engines and avionics will be the big test. A traditional aluminum fuselage isn’t that tough.

They are also doing well with their Space game. I think Firefly has it figured out. In the end it will be the US and China dominating with China in the lead role.

They are working together on a widebody:

Pretty sure I’ve read it’s not actually going that well.

The C919 has many international companies contributing to the effort. Names like General Electric/Safran, Zodiac, Honeywell and Collins, just to name a few.

It also has 1000 orders already, more than the A220 has, right now. It’s true that most of them come from China, but once the plane will become reality, airlines, especially those from regions like Southeast Asia, Africa and South America will be attracted by the lower price. Hell, even Ryanair would probably take a bunch of those, after they helped with development.

In the end, China will probably use the same strategy it used for high speed trains, to pump  steam into their aeronautical industry.

If Comac people know their interest, they'd run from UAC like they have the plague. Between US sanctions and the Russian reliability we all know, that project has as many surviving chances as most of Putin's enemies.

The MC-21 project has seen costs triple because they have to source/develop more Russian parts, as US and EU ones became unavailable due to sanctions. The CR929 looks further away now.

Yep. If they can pull it off and build a reliable aircraft there is no reason why they can’t succeed.
